This photo is of the Forestry service reunion held at camp Assiniboia, Maniotba in the summer of 1968. A list of the men, their wives, where they lived at the time of the photo, where they served and when can be found in the Mennonitische Rundschau, August 21, 1968. -- Note this photo will be placed in the over sized section.

This photo shows three men in distinctly different uniforms -- one is in the forestry service, one is a pedagogical student, and one is a student at the commerce school.

Head Forester, V. Sijakov, and his daughter

This photograph shows the Forester, V. Sijakov, of the Azov Forestry Camp in Russia with his daughter. The gentleman is seated, wearing a military uniform. He has a short, full beard and baldng hair. His daughter, standing beside him, is wearing a dark dress with a bright, double row of decorative buttons down the front, holding a small bunch of flowers. (In a letter to Jacob Dick in 1998, Nick Peters identifies the young lady as the commanding officer's wife. This picture is also on page 49 of the book Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia and in Nick Peters' collection of photocopied photos. There are two copies of this photograph, one mounted on heavier paper.

Azov Forstei in Russia

This photograph shows a roadway with a building in the background, surrounded by a few trees and a low fence. It is probably the Kaserne in the Azov Forstei in Russia. This photograph can also be found on page 49 of the book Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia. There is a picture of a similar building in the book Onsi Tjedils, p. 37.

Tree planting at the Azov Forstei, Russia

This photograph shows a group of about 24 men standing and seated in a field . Some are holding tree branches, others tools. They are mostly all wearing hats, with some wearing the Forstei cap. The men are from the Azov Forstei in Russia and have been tree planting. This photogaph also appears on page 52 of the book Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia.
