This item consists of approx. 52 people posing in front of a train. The back of the photo has Zug 206 [of Sanitaetsdienst] writen on the back. [see Der Bote 66:10]

This photo was taken at a reunion of Mennonite men who did Russian state alternative service in forestry camps at Azov and Anadol. The photo is taken at Camp Assinaboia near Headingly, Manitoba and it shows the men with their wives -- a total of 112 people on the photo.

This photograph shows the Forester, V. Sijakov, of the Azov Forestry Camp in Russia with his daughter. The gentleman is seated, wearing a military uniform. He has a short, full beard and baldng hair. His daughter, standing beside him, is wearing a dark dress with a bright, double row of decorative buttons down the front, holding a small bunch of flowers. (In a letter to Jacob Dick in 1998, Nick Peters identifies the young lady as the commanding officer's wife. This picture is also on page 49 of the book Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia and in Nick Peters' collection of photocopied photos. There are two copies of this photograph, one mounted on heavier paper.

This photograph shows a group of 4 men posed on the yard at leiseure, dressed in their Forestry Camp outfits. It is probably taken at the Azov Forstei. Iit is also included in the Nick Peters' collection of photocopied photos.

This photo shows all the men and women present at a reunion of men did alternative service as forestry workers, medical workers or consciencious objectors held at Camp Assiniboia 17-18 June 1972.

This photograph shows a long log hauled on two 2-wheeled carts pulled by oxen on a road in the Azov Forestry Camp in Russia. A group of 5 men, or more, are supervising. This photograph can also be found in Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia by Lawrence Klippenstein and Jacob Dick on page 56.0
