No. 1 in a set of numbered photos from the 6th Mennonite World Conference held in 1957 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Corny J. Rempel, a delegate to the conference, took photos and sent them with explanations to Frank Epp, editor of the CM. Rempel's explanations are included in the memos for each photo and a copy of them is in this envelope. In No. 1 a group of delegates enroute to the 6th MWC chat on the deck of a ship. L-r: Mrs. C. F. Derstine; Peter J. Dyck; Dr. Schrag; E. J. Swalm; Gerhard Lohrenz. In front of Peter Dyck is his older daughter, Ruth. The series continues to 2010-14. 469. A 2nd set sent to the CM by C. J. Rempel is in 2010-14. 470 to 493.

Likely in North America when members of the Mennonite Holiday Tour group, seated at long tables, possibly in the basement of a church, were having a meal on the 1956 tour. This photo is likely related to those above in 2010-14.608-612 and 614-615 below, but is not identified. Some of the people are facing the camera.

Not used in CM. Photo of a mural depicting Mexican Mennonites. A women in Old Colony Mennonite costume (with hat) is at left. Another woman works behind her while 2 men work at shoveling (the man in front wearing overalls.

Note on back: "Guest speaker Rev. John Wall, pastor at Fort Garry MB Church (students in the choir loft)." The students are from MBCI; taken in the '60's. An organ is clearly visible in the foreground.

Used in CM18-6-4. A variety of African musical instruments are displayed on a mat outside. They include a drum, a hawsaw & xylophone. They were used in worship in African churches.

They formed a singing and working ministry group as volunteers for the MBM, Elkhart, Ind.
