The photo includes men who did alternative service in the medical corps and forestry service as conscientious objectors.

This photograph shows a group of about 24 men standing and seated in a field . Some are holding tree branches, others tools. They are mostly all wearing hats, with some wearing the Forstei cap. The men are from the Azov Forstei in Russia and have been tree planting. This photogaph also appears on page 52 of the book Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia.
