This is a photo of Abram Friesen sitting beside his wife Maria posing for a studio photo. Abram Friesen is wearing a dark suit and shirt and a Russian felt hat. Maria is also wearing dark clothing with her Mennonite head covering. The Friesens farmed in Edenburg, Manitoba and the nearest studio to them would have been in Gretna, Manitoba.

Employees at one of the stores owned by Penner and Schultz
This photo is of 17 men and women posing for a photo inside a store. These people are the employees at one of Erdmann Penner and Otto Schultz's stores. There were stores in Gretna, Morden, Plum Coulee and Tannenau (East Reserve). Seat in the front row far right is Johann Schroeder who worked in the stores on the West Reserve. The West Reserve stores were built around 1883 when the railroad came though Morden, Plum Coulee and Gretna. Schroeder worked in the stores unitl 1892 when he got married and started farming.
Wilhelm Martens is standing outside with his wife Judith nee Penner. Wilhelm was born 23 Oct 1842, and Judith 3 Sep 1842. They emigrated to Canada about 1880. Wilhelm was elected minister in 1883. His father was Peter P. Harms 1813. Wilhelm is wearing a dark 3 piece suit and dark shirt. Judith is wearing a long black dress with buttons down the front and she has her hand in a pocket. Judith is also wearing a black lacy cap (Haube). Behind them is a fence with slanted boards and a house with 2 windows shown.
Peter Harms b 1863 is sitting on a chair outside with his wife Agatha nee Doell b. 1867 .There are more people standing behind them but they are cut off. Peter is wearing a white shirt and a vest and has a beard and mustache. Agatha is wearing a dark dress with folds in the bodice and a lacy cap (Haube). Peter was born in S.Russia and emigrated to Canada at about the age of 15. Later he moved to Saskatchewan with his wife and lived at Laird, then moved to Renata B,C. When Agatha died in 1930, Peter married Margaret Schoreder. He died in 1945.

Gen 2: Jakob B. Peters (b.1869) and his family are seated at the extreme right of the photo. Jakob B. Peters's wife was Anna Harder. She is holding son Erdmann on her knee, son Jacob is leaning against their father, and daughter Helen is standing beside Mrs. Peters. Also on the photo are Anna Harder's siblings and parents (Heinrich Harders of Ebenfeld). Taken in 1897. In the back (left to right): Mr. & Mrs. Peter Harder (with child Helena), followed by the older children of Heinrich Harder with their spouses. In the front (left to right): Mr. & Mrs. Heinrich Harder (Sr.), Mr & Mrs. Erdman and Susan (nee Harder) Peters, and Mrs. & Mrs. Jacob B. Peters and children (as mentioned above).
