MCC project--wheelchairs for Cuba

This photograph shows Siegfried Bartel, left, accepting the first fifteen wheelchairs repaired by senior citizens in British Columbia and destined for Cuba on behalf of MCC. Peter Funk (seated) was one of two volunteers who made the repairs. At right is Alf Heinrichs, coordinator of the Clearbrook Community Centre.

Korean refugees crossing the Kan River

This is a photo of an endless column of refugees crossing the provisional bridge built beside the damaged span of a bridge over the Han River, South Korea. [An attached note reads:] Of the 10 million Koreans, more than 2.5 million are refugees. To help such fortunate persons, Mennonite Central Committee is making plans to send relief workers who will provide material aid. They will also set up facilities whereby people can again establish themselves in communities and provide a living for themselves.
