People sitting at tables eating a meal. Possibly refugees from Hungary at Ranzenbach near Vienna, one of the camps operated by Mennonite Central Committee. See article in CM 4-50-1 & 1992-14.3074.

Used in CM 8-5-5 with art. by A. Driedger, "Interviewing Hungarian Refugees." Caption: A family at MCC the refugee home in Ranzenbach, now in Australia. The mother spoke German & English. They had 3 daughters. For a different family who fled from Hungary & found shleter in the MCC home at Ranzenbach see photo in 5-39-4, the Erno Laczko family.

Two views of a large home (white in color) seen at a distance from the forest nearby. This is possibly one of the refugee homes run by Mennonite Central Committee in Austria. See also 1992-14.3074, the refugee home in Ranzenbach, Austria near Vienna. Second photo is similar (12x7.5).

Infor. on back:"A group of Mennonite & Evangelical children in a camp near Vienna for which we provided MCC food." About 36 girls and boys & a few women as well. Dated 1954-55.

Taken from higher up, view of adults & children at a clothing distribution center in Austria. Irene Bishop, Austrian MCC director, is watching at far right. Beside her a man holds some papers, likely Mr. Wickmann (mentioned on back of photo). A woman wearing a Red Cross uniform is working at the table, at bottom right.

Used in the CM 4-50-1. A young Hungarian boy was given food, clothing & other aid in Vienna after fleeing his homeland. The caption for the published photo encouraged giving to aid others like him.

Used in CM 5-3-3. The summer home/winter ski resort in Ranzenbach near Vienna that was loaned to MCC by a Prot.church (see CM 4-50-1) for aiding Hungarian refugees. 1 of 3 centers. C.f.1994-14.2237.

Note with photo: 4 children (in Vienna?) hold tins of candy given to MCC (Jan.14) from Hungarian Coordinated Relief for distribution to orphans & children of poor families. Candy donated by Sinke Manufacturing Co. of Chicago.

Used in CM 6-31-4. Rev. Ernst Wyss, Swiss Mennonite missionary & leader of Mennonite in Vienna poses with 3 mothers & their children. The latter were dedicated June 1 when the new chapel was dedicated. See 1994-14.2248 re. building.

Used in CM 6-31-4. Building in Vienna at 16 Cottagegasse, which housed the MCC Center, Mennonite Mission Center, pastor's residence (a chapel on the 2nd floor). C.f. 1994-14.2249.
