Isaac Loewen fonds

This fonds consists of correspondence and store records. A portion of the correspondence contains letters received from Russia (1895-1898) and the rest concerns various personal and community matters. The store records include ledgers (1891-1903) and account books (1894-1902) from the stores in both Gretna and Osler. Most of the material is handwritten.

This fonds consists of six categories of material. 1) World War One and World War Two Materials 2) Conference of Mennonites in Canada (CMC) Material 3) Mennonite History 4) Church Related Material 5) Mennonitische Schulkommission 6) Foreign Bible Society Records. The physical arrangement does not allow following these categories sequentially.

The World War materials record Ewert's efforts to ensure the government would grant military exemption. The materials include petitions, records of financial gifts, articles and correspondence with such leaders as Abraham Doerksen, David Toews, Jacob Hoeppner and B.B. Janz. Ewert also kept a list of Mennonite men from Conference churches who were in the military during the wars. There is also a some correspondence of Julius Toews with Prime Minster Neville Camberlain of England.

The CMC materials newspaper clippings, notes, articles by Ewert and others, and correspondence. There are files on topics such as marriage licensing; articles on the German hymnal, conference statistics, program bulletins for teachers and ministers, the Canadian Mennonite, Canadian Mennonite Bible College (CMBC) conferences, new Mennonite immigrants to Canada and notes on annual conference session notes.

The Mennonite History materials include numerous newspaper clippings from Die Steinbach Post, Die Mennonitische Rundschau, The Winnipeg Free Press, Carillon News, and Der Nordwester regarding Mennonites in Canada, Paraguay, Mexico, and Brazil. There are also files dealing with the publication of Wohin? Woher? Mennoniten, and articles written by Ewert and others dealing with Mennonite history.

The church related material consists of things that Ewert collected through his work in specific congregations, namely the congregations at Edenburg and Bethel Mennonite Church in Winnipeg. Items such as a minister's manual, German New Testament, sermons, and newspaper clippings can be found in this section.

The Mennonitische Schulkommission materials consist of the records of an organizaiton that met with politian Valentine Winkler about the governments interference in the operation of Mennonite schools. There is also a 1892 attendance record for the Edenburg school where Ewert taught.

The Foreign Bible Society records include materials which Ewert collected while involved with this organization from 1952 to 1955.

Abraham Doerksen fonds

This fonds consists of a ledger and some loose papers. The ledger includes lists of sermons preached by Abraham Doerksen and lists of baptisms. The loose papers include correspondence, baptismal records, church meetings and obituaries. The documents from the Christian Heritage Library include a book entitled "The Family Tree of Abraham Doerksen, Regina Hoeppner and Descendants", as well as writings, sermons and his certificate of baptism which exempted him from military service in World War I.

Abram Dyck fonds

This fonds consists of diaries and other materials which provide details on everyday life, current events and business dealings. Tucked into some of the diaries are advertisements, notices, lottery tickets and other day-to-day notes. The diaries for 1907 and 1918 are missing. The diary for 1919 is incomplete and obviously written under difficult conditions on different notepads and scraps of paper. There is also a small notebook with calculations written in pencil.

Anganeta Wiebe fonds

This fonds includes letters and photographs sent by Aganetha Wiebe in Russia to her daughter Helena Dyck who lived in Canada, 1930-1939, and to her brother Gerhard Klasssen in Germany in 1944. The letters reflect the economic situation in South Russia, the lifestyle, religious beliefs and events experienced by Aganetha, including her flight to Poland in 1944. There is also material about Aganetha’s son Abram, his wife Ira and son Walter. Many of the letters were transcribed and translated by Anganetha’s granddaughter, Ruth Wood (nee Ruth Dyck) in 1994.
The photographs capture a sampling of various family members and events from the 1896 engagement of Aganetha Klassen to Peter G. Wiebe, to a Wiebe family reunion in Petershagen, Germany in 1995.

Wilhelm Friesen fonds

This fonds consists of one ledger that records grain and land prices around the turn of the 20th century. There are financial records related to the support for the local school and for fire insurance levies. There is also some prose written by William Friesen. The materials give a sense of the economic conditions and show some of the activities the Mennonite ministers in the Rosenheim area of Manitoba at that time.

Frank and Tina Braun fonds

This fonds consists of diaries, family history, photographs, and an inheritance document. The diaries are written by both Tina Braun and her husband Frank Braun and document their lives as mature adults living in the Altona, Manitoba area. The photographs deal with fruit production in the St. Catharines area.

Abraham K. "A.K." Friesen

This fonds includes personal letters written by friends and family as well as professional letters. The majority of letters from family and friends were written in gothic script German. Some of these letters have been transcribed by someone other than A.K. Friesen into Latin script German. When A.K. Friesen was a teacher he received letters from the Department of Education and Dominion School Supply. Then when A.K. transitioned to working for Monarch Lumber Company he received letters from The Star Manufacturing Co. Limited.
Most of the letters were written to A.K. Friesen, however, there are a few letters written to other people.

Also included is a free sample of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver tablets (Volume 6486.7).
