Home of Ben Hildebrandt in Rosenthal - approx 1910

This is of 7 people - 2 women, 2 men and 3 children - in front of the abandoned Ben Hildebrandt home in Rosenthal. It shows a rundown painted brick house with attached barn. It has a high wooden gable with a thatched roof in disrepair. The people are leaning against a wood fence. There are bare trees between the people and the building and an unkempt, grassy area in front of them.

Tiege. Bauerhof.

This is a postcard of a typical house-barn in the village of Tiege, Zagradovka (Russia) with tall trees around it and a gate in the front. The handwritten annotation of the back reads "Nicht Tiege, sondern Neu-Schönsee, Sagradowka. Haus von Aeltestern Warkentin" (not in Tiege but rather Neu-Schönsee, home of Aeltester Warkentin).

Cornelius Hiebert residence

The Hiebert residence at 2102 - 24 Avenue, Didsbury, Alberta. Cornelius Hiebert was a former secretary-treasurer of the R.M. of Rhineland in Manitoba.
"The Hiebert Residence was built circa 1907 and its design clearly reflects the influence of the lively Queen Anne style. This eclectic style is evident in the dynamic marriage of elements derived principally from medieval and classical sources. The red brick facade, hipped roof with dormers on each side, three-sided projecting bay, and verandah are all prominent exterior features of this style, as are the elaborate interior elements, including the coffered stairwell, embellished parlour entrance with double columns, and well-crafted wooden window and door frames. The home's design is robust, but playful, incorporating keyhole-shaped windows, quoins, and asymmetrical elevations. When it was constructed, the Hiebert Residence was among the largest and most ornate in the region and one of the few to boast running water - a powerful symbol of Hiebert's prestige and prominence in the community.
