Die Siedlerfamilien der Kolonie Menno brachten 1927/28 von Puerto Casado Kühe mit, um die Milch für den Eigenbedarf zu sichern. Dass sich dieser Sektor einmal zu einem sehr wichtigen Bestandteil der Wirtschaft entwickeln würde, hat damals wohl kaum jemand geahnt. „Ein Weg aus der Armut“ hat man das Buch genannt, das die Geschichte der Milchproduktion in Menno erzählt.1
Zwischen den Jahren 1951 und 1953 fing man an, Butter von den Kolonisten aufzukaufen, um sie nach Asunción zu verkaufen. Ohne Kühlanlage, durch Fliegendraht vor Ungeziefer geschützt und mit feuchten Tüchern gekühlt, sammelte man sie unter dem nördlichen Schattendach des Handelsraumes der Kolonie. Danach wurden die Produkte dann meistens mit Pferdewagen (die etwas schneller waren als Ochsenkarren) bis zur Bahnstation Fred Engen, von da mit der Eisenbahn nach Puerto Casado und weiter per Schiff nach Asunción zum Markt gebracht. Das konnte eine Woche oder länger dauern.
Um dem steigenden Absatz von Milchprodukten gerecht zu werden, kaufte die Kolonie 1953 eine Kühlanlage, um 3.000 kg Butter zu lagern sowie zwei Abrahmer und einen Kompressor, um die Butter herzustellen. Im Jahr 1954 wurde beschlossen, in Loma Plata eine kleinere Anlage für die Erzeugung der verschiedenen Milchprodukte zu bauen.
Im Jahr 1959 wurde in Loma Plata mit dem Bau einer größeren Fabrik begonnen, um Butter und Käse zu produzieren. Im darauffolgenden Jahr konnten diese Maschinen dann in Betrieb genommen werden. Zu den Maschinen und Einrichtungen gehörten: Ein Pasteurisierer, eine Zentrifuge (Abrahmer), zwei Käsebehälter, vier Käsepressen, zwei Kompressoren, ein Dampfkessel, ein Annahmeraum, ein Raum für die Käseproduktion, drei Kühlkammern und ein Kompressorenraum.
Die Milch wurde anfänglich in Kannen, später in Kühltanks gelagert und von Lastkraftwagen zur Fabrik gebracht.
Seit den 1980er Jahren wird ein großer Teil der Milch zu H-Milch (ultrahocherhitzt und dadurch ungekühlt haltbar) verarbeitet. Sie ist seitdem das wichtigste Produkt der Molkerei. Außerdem werden pasteurisierte Frischmilch, verschiedene Käsesorten, Joghurt, Sahne, Butter, Dulce de Leche und Flan hergestellt und in Paraguay und in den Nachbarländern verkauft.

This fonds contains membership lists (1975-1980), family, marriage, and baptismal registers (1927-1978), congregational meeting minutes (1954-1993), annual membership meeting (1977), church council meeting minutes (1954-1979), financial records (1964-1979), minutes of committees concerning young people (1966-1979), building (1953-1954), Sunday School (1957-1974), service (1964-1970), missions (1965-1974), ladies (1965-1980), Jugendverein [youth society] (1957-1979), directory (1988), and constitutions (1979, 1990). The records pertain to the founding and development of the Bergthaler congregation in Graysville. They document the leaders and participants in this congregation.

This fonds consists of minutes, bulletins, newsletters, registers, constitutions, and annual reports which pertain to the beginning and development of the Whitewater Mennonite group of congregations (Gemeinde). This fonds contains material which is applicable to both the Gemeinde and the local congregation and it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two because the group of churches had the same name as the one congregation in the group. The records pertain to the beginning and development of the Elim Mennonite congregation at Grunthal, Manitoba and they document who the leaders and participants were in the congregation.

This fonds consists primarily of correspondence, as well as minutes and other papers relating to various committees and activities. The correspondence concerns: family matters; the Canadian Mennonite Board of Colonization; the Provincial Mennonite Relief Committee; the Conference of Mennonites in Canada, both generally and the Board of Christian Service in particular; the General Conference Mennonite Church, especially the Board of Missions; and letters from refugees in Europe requesting relief aid. There are also various collected materials such as tracts and peace literature.
