Mennonite Board of Missions Executive Board Meeting Minutes
These records document the meetings of the primary governing board of the Mennonite Board of Missions. The Board of Directors was instituted in 1971, replacing its predecessor, the Executive Committee. Some of the minutes of Board of Director subcommittees and service committees, such as the Overseas Committee, Home Missions Committee, Communication Committee, Finance and Legal Committee, Personnel Committee, etc. may be found interfiled with these minutes.

Aldine Carpenter and Eva Harder Brunk Papers
Photographs, correspondence, diaries, sermons, and other material documenting the Brunks' mission work in India. The most unusual item in the papers is Eva Brunk's essay, "My First O.B. Case in Dondi," which provides a first hand account of childbirth and post-natal care and customs in a "High Caste Brohmin's home" in the early 20th century.

Committee meeting minutes, evangelism record books, correspondence, and miscellaneous materials pertaining to American Mennonite Mission's efforts to convert Hindu and Muslim Indians to Christianity. Meeting minutes generally do not discuss overall mission strategy, but focus on the assignments, performance, and financial compensation of Indian evangelists, The evangelism record books provide in-depth accounts of preaching and books distributed to various villages. Researchers should be aware, however, that these record books are in Hindi. Also of interest in this series are the records pertaining to the Bible Women, who evangelized on behalf of the Mennonite mission. Mennonite missionaries' evaluations of the Bible Women are in English, while the Bible Women's evangelism records are in Hindi.

A small set of records documeting the work of the auditing committee, which monitored the financial operations of the American Mennonite Mission in India. Earliest years of the records include committee minutes; after 1921, only reports were retained. Researchers should note that reports are not present for all years.

A hodgepodge of letters that includes correspondence regarding missionaries' passport and residency issues, correspondence with Indian college students sponsored by the mission, letters from mission staff in Elkhart, Ind. circulated among the missionaries, and correspondence pertaining to clothing and bedding orders filled by various Mennonite sewing circles.

Records of the various mission outposts operated by the American Mennonite Mission, including Baloghahan, Dondi, Ghatula, Mohadi, and Sankra. Also includes records pertaining to the girls' orphanage and the leper asylum. Materials include reports, correspondence, and ledger books containing records of activities at the various stations.

Incoming and outgoing admistrative correspondence from the highest office of the American Mennonite Mission in India. Correspondence includes communications between the mission board in the United States as well as Indian government officials. These records also include ledger books listing the names of donors who provided financial sponsorship of Indian orphans.
