Preston Mennonite Church cornerstone laying
David Bechtel, George Hagey, and Bruce Witmer, descendants of pioneer families in the congregation, participating in the cornerstone laying ceremony for the new Preston Mennonite Church on Concession Road, October 12, 1953. The original church building (known as Hagey Mennonite Church) had been destroyed by fire in February of that year. Also seen in the photograph are are Rev. Merle Shantz and Rev. Roy Koch, as well as an unidentified man in the foreground.
Hagey Mennonite Church on August 12, 1931. Located on Fountain Street North, this red brick building was constructed in 1842, remodeled in 1896, and gained a basement in 1928. It would eventually be damaged by fire in 1950, then again in 1953, at which time the current church building (now known as Preston Mennonite Church) was constructed on Concession Road.

A man, probably Rev. Roy Koch, speaking at the cornerstone laying ceremony for the new Preston Mennonite Church on Concession Road, October 12, 1953. The original church building (known as Hagey Mennonite Church) had been destroyed by fire in February of that year. Also seen in the photograph are Bishop Ben Shantz, Pastor Howard Good, and three other unidentified men.

Hagey Mennonite Church in ruins after being destroyed by a fire on February 19, 1953. This was the second fire that took place at this church, the first one was on January 15, 1950.
