Dedication of jeep for mission work in Japan
Dedication of vehicle for use by Mennonite missionaries in Japan, on the grounds of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. A large crowd of people are gathered around the vehicle, listening to a speaker standing on the vehicle's roof platform. The speaker (on right) appears to be Rev. J. B. Toews, pastor of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church at that time. The other two men may be Harold Gaede and Harry Friesen, both missionaries to Japan. There are stacks of lumber (for use in construction of the new building) in the foreground, and the northwest facade of the old sanctuary is visible in the background. A slightly different photograph of this same event was published and described in the 15 April 1951 issue of The Christian Leader.
