This photo is of three men, Paul Horala, Ray Brubacher, and Gilbert Klopfenstein , in eastern Chad.
The description at the back of the photo says, "At Matadjene, a 'water hole' in eastern Chad, Paul Horala, a French missionary, dispenses medical supplies and performing (sic) the services of nurse and doctor to six thousand persons of that community. MCC was encouraged to assist in building water reservoirs which could then be used for human purposes as well as livestock and irrigation. Horala has done pioneer work in this area. Here he is demonsrtating to Ray Brubacher of the MCC Africa department and to Gilbert Klopfenstein, French Mennonite missionary in Chad, the effects of water on the soil in that area.
