A March of Christian Witness, Berlin 1966

A "March of Christian Witness" was staged in downtown Berlin on October 30, 1966 by the World Congress on Evangelism. Leading the parade are (l-r): Carl Henry, Congress Chairman; Rt. Rev. Chandu Ray, Bishop of the Anglican Church, Karachi, Pakistan, Bishop Alexander Mar Theophilus, India; J.W. Winterhager, church of Berlin-Brandenburg. The march culminated a the historic Kaiser Wilhelm Church were 18,000 stood in the rain, sang "A mighty fortress is our God" and heard Bishop Otto Dibelius of Berlin and Graham.

Jake and Ruth Wiebe (Buhler) wedding

Jake and Ruth Wiebe were married at Osler Mennonite Church in 1965. Two of Ruth's nieces were flower girls: Diane Driedger on Jake's side and Joan Driedger on Ruth's side. Ruth is a half-sister to Leo Driedger.

Abram Driedger and the musical quartet

In 1910 Abram Driedger worked at a store in Rosthern, Saskatchewan. There he met like minded musical friends who played the trombone, violin, and French horn. Abram played the clarinet (top left). The names of the friends are not mentioned. The quartet had their picture taken at a studio in Rosthern.

Abram and Sarah Driedger Wedding

Abram Driedger, b. 1887, was the son of Johann and Katharina Driedger. He met Sarah Friesen while working at a Rosthern store. They married in Rosthern on October 2, 1910. They took this photo at a studio in Rosthern the day of their wedding.

Conference of Mennonites of Middle Canada Sessions

This photograph shows hundreds of delegates from several provinces attending "Die Konferenz der Mennoniten in Mittleren Kanada" (Conference of Mennonites in Middle Canada) at Zoar Mennonite Church in Langham, Saskatchewan in July 1923. Aeltester David Toews presided at the annual sessions. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the arrival of Mennonites from the USSR. Indeed the Conference took place during the arrival of the first train of Russlaender in Rosthern on July 21, according to John G. Rempel. Notice the main telegraph line on the left and the local telegraph line on the right. Also to the right of the church is a faint outline of a large three-pole tent that could have held upwards of 500 people.

Friesen's Store

This photo shows the interior of Friesen's Store in the 1940s. It was started by John C. Friesen in 1926. It transferred to his son Menno in 1943 and in 1976 it was sold to Aaron Regehr, then to his son Marv in 1985. In 2024 it is called Friesen's Bigway. The people in this photo are unidentified. Leo Driedger is the nephew of John C. and Tina Friesen (Driedger).
