This is a photograph of six young men. They are staggered from shortest to tallest, L>R. All are wearing suits and ties. Johann (John) Janz is the third from the right wearing a dark tie. The rest of the names are unknown. All except the tallest on the right have a mustache. The man second from the left has spectacles. The bottom of the photograph is white as if developed improperly.

This is a family photograph of Johann and Anna (Janzen) Janz and their two sons Gerhard and Johann. The boys are dressed alike in Russian or Cossack-style shirts with buttons running down the left side. Father Johann (John) is wearing a light coloured 3 piece suit and tie. His tie has a collar clip bar underneath. Anna is wearing a necklace and a light coloured dress.

This is a photograph of three young women, probably friends. The picture has 1912 impressed in the bottom right corner. All three women have crimped hair gathered at the back. All are wearing light coloured dresses with large collars or shawls. Only the young woman in the middle, Margaretha Janzen, has no necklace. She appears to have fair hair while the others are dark haired. The first young woman is unnamed, then Margaretha Janzen in the centre and Paulina Kuehn on the right.

This photograph is of a group of five men clustered around a small table. All are wearing three piece suits with ties. The man standing is wearing a cap, three men are wearing top hats. There is a top hat on the table and on it is a picture of an infant which the two on the right are admiring. The man on the right is wearing a ring on the ring finger of his left hand. The second man on the left is holding a handkerchief in his right hand and magazine or notebook in his left. The man second from the right is identified as Jacob Schultz. The photograph was taken in Germany in the Meffert studio, possibly by a Gustav Meffert.

This photograph is of four women dressed for winter. They are wearing heavy three quarter length jackets with matching skirts, gloves, hats and stoles.. The three seated women are wearing fur hats that could be sable. The three on the left have long stoles over their shoulders. The woman standing has a matching Persian lamb hat and muff. The woman seated at the far right has a long necklace around her collar. The women are L to R Margaretha Janzen seated separately, unknown standing, Anna Janzen and Anna Priess seated on the bench.

The book may contain poetry or verse. It is a German photograph. She may have been a music school colleague of Anna Janzen

This is a photograph of a woman standing. She may have been the music teacher of Anna Janzen according to the dedication on the reverse of the photo. The dedication, dated Schoeneberg, April 1911, urges the continuation of singing lessons. This teacher, Martha Schwartz is dressed in a dark velvet dress embellished with lace at the three quarter length sleeves and bodice. She is wearing a long necklace and rings in her left hand.

This is an oval photograph of a woman wearing a dark dress trimmed with lace at the throat and collar. There is a brooch at her throat and a long chain or necklace around her neck. Her hair is combed back, away from her face. [She is the same woman as in Item 034 which would then identify her as Eva Janz (Willms).]

This is a photograph of three young women all dressed in winter coats and hats. They are L to R Katharina Priess, Anna Janzen and Marie Wiebe. [They may have been cousins.] Anna, in the centre, has a long fur stole around her shoulders. She is the oldest in this group.

This is a photograph of a couple. She is seated in a large wicker chair that has a fringed shade covering. Katharina Dyck (nee Janzen) is wearing a skirt and blouse and a straw hat. She has a necklace and a brooch at her throat. Jacob Dyck is wearing a light coloured three piece suit and cap. A cane is hanging from his wrist. This photograph looks to be taken at a resort or beach or seaside. There are several more wicker chairs in the background.

This photograph is of three siblings Rudi, Gredl and Hansi Janzen. Margaret or Gredl is wearing a light coloured dress with a white collar. She has a dark ribbon in her fair hair. She is holding fake flowers. Johann or Hansi is sitting on a cushion. He is wearing stockings that go above the knee to his short pants. He is holding a toy wooden horse. Rudolf or Rudi is holding on to the sides of the chair he is sitting in. He is wearing buttoned boots. Hansi's boots are tied. There are two lines of Russian impressed onto the photo in the bottom right corner.

Her floral headpiece matches the floral arrangement across her chest. It includes myrtle. The groom also has a sprig of myrtle with a white ribbon attached to his lapel. She is holding an unknown arrangement in her hands. There is a long white ribbon hanging from her belt. The groom is wearing a double-breasted morning coat with satin lapels and a white shirt.

The cardboard backing upon which the photograph is attached indicates Alexandrovsk/Schoenwiese.
