Used in CM 3-31-8. A typical shelter measuring 3 feet by 6 feet which serves as a home for a Korean family. Thin boards, cardboard, flattened tin cans and rice straw mats are the usual contruction materials for these shelters. Through the Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite volunteers bring relief to some of these needy families

CM 7-16-7 has an article about Henry Neufeld's task of assisting people to build better houses. Probable location is Pauingassi, Manitoba. Negative also.

Caption on back reads: "Where M.P.M. is building station. A house on the Bloodvein Indian Reserve. It appears to be a good size. However at the time I visited the large part was not in use at all due to a need of repairs. A family of five were living in the small right section of the house.. Henry H. Funk (left) and Irwin Schmidt are at the entrance to a home built by Isaac Fast, a hermit who lived along the Saskatchewan River at the Gabriel Ferry Crossing near Batoche. It is dated Oct. 23, 1965 but was not used in the CM. The entrance consists of a wooden frame of logs, covered with dirt and grass as if the home were were built into a hillside. It is only as high as the man standing in the entrance. The first Mennonite prairie settlers built similar homes or sod huts (called semlins in German?).

Used in the CM 14-15-7. One of the villages of tribes people in the mountain area of Hualien which reflect poverty of which there seems to be no end. Simply built, frail looking huts are in the background and children in the foreground. Taken on Frank H. Epp's Asian Tour.
