Car crash wreckage

Wreckage from a car accident on February 28, 1953. Nineteen-year-old Alvin Friesen, son of Rev. and Mrs. P. D. Friesen, was out with his friend Aubrey Reimer. The car hit a patch of ice just past Ste. Anne, MB and the car skidded into the oncoming lane. A tractor-trailer, coming from the opposite direction, swerved and the trailer jackknifed. The car hit the rear wheels of the tractor and then the side of the trailer, peeling back the roof of the car. Alvin suffered a cut across his forehead and Aubrey a fractured ankle. Both were hospitalized briefly and then released. The car, a 1952 Dodge, was a gift to Rev. Friesen from the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church for his service as pastor.
