History

Daughter of Abram and Justina (Wiens) Wiens. Born in Issyl Kul, Siberia. Immigrated to Alberta, later Saskatchewan and in 1939 to Yarrow, British Columbia. She was baptized into the Mennonite Brethren church. Graduated as a registered nurse in 1950. Volunteered as a nurse with Mennonite Central Committee in Korea in the 1950s; later worked in public health and taught nursing.
