Horse and buggy approaching lumber laid out in snow. Corresponding section of the Brubacher House script reads: "Barn raising was another important part of pioneer life. In a Mennonite Community everyone was sensitive to their neighbours' need and rallied to help him rebuild after a fire and restore the loss. A lot of preparation was done on the site before the day of barn-raising, such as laying the foundation and floor, preparing the hand hewn beams and placing them in order for erection."

Caption in Risk and Endurance: "Despite the split, Stirling members cooperated with Conference members to host Russian Mennonite immigrants in the summer and fall of 1924. Teenage immigrant Abram Harder with Edwin S. Eby and team on the Eby farm." Abram A. Harder, son of Abram H. and Anna Harder, was a Russian Mennonite immigrant to Canada billeted briefly with the Eby family after his arrival in 1924.
