A series of mat negatives, produced on cardboard

A series of mat negatives, produced on carboard and labelled "special relief cuts" (ie more like a woodcut). Numbers 2 to 6 were used in the 1956 vol. of the CM as follows: #2 "Child of Neglect" in 4-45-2; #3 "Child of flight" in 4-46-2; #4 "Child of despair" in 4-47-2; #5 "Child of want' in 4-48-2; "Child of hope" in 49-4-2. For 1 of the "cuts" which shows a young boy, perhaps in an Asian country, there is no label or indication of when it was used.

Refugee children, 1920

This is a photo of a group of Mennonite refugee children in the 1920s either in Russia or in Germany. An adult can be seen in the upper left hand corner.Five children can be fully or partially seen in the back row and five in the front row. A young girl holds a drink in a cup and a boy holds a plate in front of him. Two girls are wearing plaid blouses and dark jumpers which are decorated with rickrack.

Negative also. Used in CM 4-50-5. Similar to 14.870 except not as close up. Waldemar & his mother look at a letter sent them from Russia from the husband & father they had not seen in 20 years. C.f. 1992-14.870.
