History

-Born on November 28, 1876 in the village of Eichenfeld, Yazykovo Colony, Southern Russia. He was one of ten children born to Jakob and Anganeta (nee Toews) Peters. After attending the village school, Peters went on to complete high school at the Chortitza Zentralschule. He then did two years of pedagogical training and taught in Kornejewko for 12 years.
-Baptized by Isaak Dyck at age 20. Five years later he married Helen Heinrichs on January 12, 1902. Their marriage produced ten children, four of which died as children.
-Ordained to the ministry on November 22, 1920 by Aeltester Heinrich Epp.
-Immigrated to Canada in 1924, initially settling at Crystal City, Manitoba but then moving to the village Chortitz during the 1930s.
-Became members of the Gruenthal Mennonite Church where Peters served as song leader, teacher, and preacher until 1943.
-Moved to Steinbach where Peters served the Steinbach Mennonite Church until his death on April 12, 1961.
