Biographical history

Peter Hoeppner (1825-1907) was from the Fuerstenland Colony, South Russia. He married his first cousin Elisabeth Penner (1824-1914). They emigrated in 1876 and were one of the founding families in the village of Waldheim in the Manitoba Mennonite West Reserve.

Archival history

Some of the letters arrived through the help of Edwin Hoeppner of Winnipeg in September 1983 from an Oklahoma woman who had bought a box of materials at an auction sale in Oregon. Additional material was deposited by Ed Falk of Winkler that he received from the late Mrs. [Elisabeth?] Hoeppner of Morden, in August of 2000
