Note
From two to five corpses were carried to the grave at one time. Then one body after another and many times all of them were dropped into a mass grave. Here they landed with a dull thud, one on top of the other - a scene that an observer would not readily forget. The bodies were mostly unclothed, particularly those of children. This clothing was then passed on to others preventing more casualties. At times workers came upon a heap of corpses which they buried for the sake more clothing. They were able to sell them at the bazaar the next day.
