This photo is another view of the Old Folks home. "Kuruschan". The residents of this home who were poor, were supported by their home villages. The last "house father", Rev F Willms, from Tiegenhagen, was arrested during one night in 1925 and was shot together with four other Mennonite men. The limbs of the five persons were later found in a gravel pit between Halbstadt and Petershagen. [HR 122] (2 prints)

This is a photo of the Old Folks Home, "Kuruschan." It was built to commemorate the founding of the Molotschna settlement and had room for fifty guests. It was financed and maintained by the Halbstadt municipality. [HR 114]. The man in the front of the home is the administrator Franz Willms.
