History

The archival program was begun in 1933, with a resolution from Bernhard Schellenberg at the annual sessions of the Conference of Mennonites in Canada. In 1978 the present Heritage Archives building was constructed with financing from P.W. Enns. The Mennonite Heritage Archives is a centre that collects, preserves and makes accessible the documentary Heritage of the Mennonite people with a focus on Canada but with concentrated collections related to the Mennonite experience in Prussia, Russia, South and Latin America.
