This fonds contains personal diaries, journals, and travel logs of LaVerna’s. Personal correspondence, letters, keepsakes and hobbies such as her Royal family collection are contained. Research from articles, newspapers, and periodicals on a great range of topics such as women in the church, faith, marriage, and prayer with the drafts, and published articles LaVerna wrote on her researched topics remain. LaVerna kept drafts, notes and letters from editors as well.

Jake and Trudie Unrau Photograph Collection

This photo collection consists of black and white as well as colour photographs taken by Jake Unrau and Trudie Unrau in their work with Mennonite Pioneer Mission and Native Ministries. The photos date from [ca. 1948 -1989]. The photos have been arranged by Jacob Unrau as follows:

    The photos depict the environment where the Unraus worked including buildings, their family, native peoples and their customs, modes of transportation, sports, weddings, program activities such as native camp. At time of processing the following photos were missing. 7,9,165,229,230, 301, 302. Some numbers were omitted 13, 55, 127. There is a card index created by Jacob Unrau that correspond to the photos. The cards are yellow in colour. Some photos are duplicated in the slides.

Matheson Island public school

This photograph shows all the children from Grade I - VIII including the teacher Don Sealey. Among the pupils are: Everett Monkman and Doreen Mowat. Other children were from Settees, Thommas, Kirkness, Orvis, Bennetts and others.

Dock construction at Matheson Island

This photograph shows the construction of a crib dock. The men are sinking cribs by loading them with rocks, creating the support structure that will hold the dock to the lake bottom. Also seen are the Manitoba Fisheries and Keystone Fisheries ice houses.

Matheson Island school building

This photo shows the renovated school building where the Jake and Trudy Unrau family lived for 2 winters. Shown in the photo are: Trudie Unrau, Patsy Unrau and Hedy Unrau.
