Biographical history
Born in the Mennonite village of Wernersdorf in the Soviet Union (Ukraine) to Peter Braun and Ekatherine (Braeul). Travelled to Poland on the "Great Trek" out of the Soviet Union in 1943, forcibly relocated to Kazakhstan with her mother in 1945. Made contact with father and brothers in Ontario, Canada after 1957; immigrated to Ontario in 1966.

Scope and content
This series consists predominantly of photographs of women and men immigrating to Canada from the Soviet Union, along with their relatives who had previously arrived in Canada. The photographs were taken at reunion events. One photograph of pupils of the Wernersdorf school is included.
