Scope and content

This photo is of the Logan Mission Church at the corner of Logan and Ellen in Winnipeg, MB. The building no longer exits.
-The church at 406 Logan Ave. was an outgrowth of the Gospel Light Mission. It was purchased with Conference help in 1949 from the Swedish Baptist Church and by 1956 was known as the Gospel Light Mission (MB) Church.
-After some years of ministry (Sunday School, clubs, etc.) in the neighbourhood, a group of church members purchased in 1959 a church building at 760 McMillan and relocated to form the Fort Rouge MB Church.
-Ministry at the Logan property continued and it reorganized as the Logan Ave. MB Church (aka Logan Mission Church) from 1963 to 1965. In 1965, the congregation moved to another building at 691 Alexander Ave. and called itself Salem MB Church.
-Sometime later, the Logan church property came down and was replaced with commercial buildings.
-Note: This church is not to be confused with old First Scandinavian Mission Church across the street at 268 Ellen (it too is on the corner of Logan and Ellen, just a different corner). The 268 Ellen church still exists and has been designated a heritage building (see http://www.mhs.mb.ca/docs/sites/firstscandinavianchurch.shtml).
