Administrative history
Lethbridge Mennonite Church was formally founded on February 26, 1978. It was the result of an outreach effort by the Coaldale Mennonite Church and a response to the increasing move by Mennonites to the urban centre. The planning began in 1976 as well as the holding of their first services. It was considered a mission church in 1977 and then became independent in 1978. They initially met in rented facilities. A building on 11th Street South was purchased in 1977 and dedicated on January 28, 1979. The membership in 1978 was 27. In 1980 the membership was 42 and by 1992 it was 71. A new bulding was built at 4303-3 Ave. South in Lethbridge and dedicated in 1998. In 2000 the membership was 79 and in 2021 it was 62. The leaders of the congregation include: Art Regier (1977-1978), Nick Dyck (1978-1979), Ernie Sawatzky (1980-1993), Fred Unruh (1993-1998), Ruth Preston Schilk (1998-2010), Harold Peters Franzen (2010-2011), Ryan Dueck (2011-).
