His wife is wearing a long white dress with a train and a white hat. A small group of dignitaries is standing in the front of the photo. The czar and his wife are standing at the base of a column which holds the statue of Peter the Great mounted on a horse.

Tsar Nicholas II (seated on chair at centre of photograph) is surrounded by patients, Red Cross workers and other staff at a hospital for wounded men in Ekaterinoslav, South Russia. Abraham Dick was present at the hospital that day, but was standing outside the room in the honour guard. Written on back: "Jekaterinaslav Hospital for wounded. Czar Nicholas 1917/18. Dad was standing guard outside door."
