This photograph shows a large group of men posed in front of some bare trees, alongside a light colored coffin on a stand, all without their caps on. A German note in the front reads: "? Plett, died in the South Coast Forestry Camp. The son of a Molotschna bishop. 1916. In the Crimean mountains outside of Yalta. The address of P.J. Sawatzky is noted on the reverse, R.R. #2, Ruthven, Ont. This photo also appears on page 146 of the book by Lawrence Klippenstein and Jacob Dick, Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia.

The two men reclining on the ground are wearing white aprons. The photograph is stamped on the reverse, possibly with the name of the Forstei or maybe the photographer?
