Contains a letter written by Brunk, describing her work as a nurse with Mennonite Central Committee in Pusan, Korea. The scroll, presented to Brunk by the Korean Nursing Association of Pusan, features the Nightingale Pledge written in Korean. Also includes a journal from her experiences working as a "C.O. Girl" in the Hudson River State Hospital for the Insane in Poughkeepsie, NY, during the summer of 1945.
These papers consist primarily of newspaper clippings, court records, and incoming correspondence pertaining to the 1982 conviction of Mennonite conscientious objector and Goshen college student Mark Arden Schmucker on charges of failing to register for the draft.
Researchers should note that this collection does not contain copies of all of the court records for Schmucker's case. Rather, the court records in this collection are primarily briefs submitted to the court on Schmucker's behalf.
