Five incoming letters to Ada Burkhart Ziegler, a nurse who served as a medical missionary at the Mennonite Home for the Aged in Eureka, Illinois and later taught on the faculty of La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing in La Junta, Colorado. ALl correspondence is addressed to Ada Burkhart, as Ziegler did not marry until later in life.

(1) From J. D. Smith, Superintendent of the Mennonite Home for the Aged, indicating the recommendation of Ms. Burkhart by D. H. Bender and informing her that the Mennonite Home for the Aged requested her service, and asking whether she intended to accept the position.

(2) From Allen H. Erb of La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing, commending Ms. Burkhart on her service and reminding her to follow the doctrine of Christ and the training program, including the adherence to modest dress ("be an especial example on the custom or style of short sleeves and low necks").

(3) From "Mary Alice" describing a recent trip to Goshen, Indiana and her imminent departure for India to perform mission service.

(4) From "Mary Alice" regarding her voyage to India.

(5) From Allen H. and Stella Erb offering condolences on the occasion of Burkhart's father's death.

Also includes a 1922 commencement program from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing.

This scrapbook thoroughly documents the academic and social aspects of Kanagy's nursing course at La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing.  Materials in the scrapbook include poems, photographs (labelled), diary entries, handbooks, church bulletins, cartoons, class schedules, party invitations, revival services, concert programs, and wedding invitations.

Also with the scrapbook are three class reunion photographs from 1992, 1994, and 1998.

Alma Slagel Eigsti "adopted" a Russian Mennonite refugee named Margareta Unruh through her Sunday school class at Waldo Mennonite Church in Illinois. Unruh and her family were forced to flee Russia in 1943, first staying in Holland and later immigrating to Paraguay. Eigsti and Unruh corresponded with each other from 1946-1981. In this collection are the letters that Eigsti received from Unruh. The letters describe Unruh's domestic life and her personal needs. There is also a small amount of correspondence from Tina Boschmann.

These records document the work of an organization of missionary women that guided the work of the Indian Bible Women and the sewing circles in India.  Meeting minutes comprise the bulk of the records.

A 4 page letter by Barbara Kennel Nafsienger written on January 28, 1891 in Doulevant le Chateau addressed to cousins David and Barbara describing health, news and weather. A transcription of the letter is also included.

The personal papers of Beulah Stauffer Hostetler, consisting of creative and academic writings, correspondence, photographs, recordings, and miscellaneous subject files related to her research into Old Order life and her time as a professor at Elizabethtown College. Materials from her family members, particularly her father Ezra Stauffer, are also included.

The collection includes diaries, photographs, scrapbooks, and scattered correspondence from friends and family, mostly from Dorothy Smith Shank's years as a Goshen College Academy and Goshen College student from 1924 to 1932.

A small set of materials about the life and work of Dorothy S. McCammon, a teacher who was active in Mennonite ministry and women's organizations.  Materials include essays and poems about McCammon written at the time of her death, a brief history of the Elkhard County Jail ministry to women, and a copy of the Women's Missionary and Service Commission Bible Study Guide, "From Monologue to Dialogue" (1978), which McCannon coauthored.

The Emma Richards papers are divided into two series:  Series 1, Correspondence and Subject Files, and Series 2, Sermons. The first series contains substantial information on Emma Richard's ordination process.

A small set of personal papers created by a secretary employed by the Mennonite Board of Missions from 1950 to 1978.  Materials include scattered correspondence and autobiographical essays, photographs of the Graber siblings, Graber family obituaries, information on Lloyd O. Rupe, and a scrapbook of photographs and correspondence presented to her by missionaries and mission board staff upon her retirement.

Two scrapbooks documenting the education and social life of a young Mennonite woman from Elkhart who attended Elkhart High School and the La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing in the 1920s. Contains photographs of fellow students and staff, newspaper clippings, graduation announcements and cards. The La Junta scrapbook also includes photographs after her graduation depicting travels and friends at home.

Esther Oyer Smith's school scrapbook documents her education at Metamora High School (Metamora, Illinois), Hesston College and Bible School (Hesston, Kansas), Clinton County Normal School (St. Johns, Michigan), and Goshen College (Goshen, Indiana). The scrapbook includes photographs, clippings, commencement announcements, invitations, and other ephemora. Her time at Hesston College and Goshen College is particulary is well represented.
