Photocopies of miscellanous documents pertaining to Amish and Amish Mennonite communities in Iowa.  Materials include 19th century correspondence, anecdotes, a list of members of the Amish Church at Lower Deer Creek, a list of clergy and congregations in the Western Amish-Mennonite Conference (later the Iowa-Nebraska Mennonite Conference), a program from the dedication of the Deer Creek marker, and other miscellaneous materials.

Joash Yoder Copybook and Correspondence

A small personal collection consisting of an arithmetic copybook and two letters associated with an Amish Mennonite farmer and teacher originally from Mifflin Co., Penn.  Yoder later moved to Wayne Co., Ohio.  The copybook carried the date 1835, and the letters are dated 1845 (from Shem Zook) and 1861 (from Joash Yoder's son, Eli L. Yoder).  Also included with this collection is a note regarding German students who attended the German school in "Irishtown" in 1841-1842.

Miscellaneous documents accumulated by Harry Symensma, a Mennonite immigrant from Balk (Friesland, Netherlands) and member of the Mennonite (Dunkard) church in Union Township (presumably Elkhart County), Indiana, and his son, Henry Symensma, of New Paris, Indiana.  Materials include property tax and other reciepts, real estate assessments, a letter from John F. Funk offering condolences to Henry Symensma, and Dutch militia documents.
