The picture shows the old Martin Kornelius Penner house in 1950. The house had been renovated in the late 1940's. This is the same house as the one pictured in 714-1-16. The front porch was closed in and the second floor living space increased, a necessity as the size of the family increased.

The photo shows Martin Kornelius Penner repainting the barn which he had built in the late 1950's. He set up an arrangement of ladders, using the hay bales on the back of a truck as a raised platform to reach the top part of the barn wall. Other family members were not allowed on to the structure.
