People that left their homes because of fighting

This is a photo of men, women and a few children talking with members of a church-based Fact Finding Mission. The meeting is taking place outside in a rock-strewn area among buildings in Napaliran, a town on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. These people have left their countryside homes in the province of Misamis Oriental because of fighting between the rebel New people's Army and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

A peace sculpture

This is a photo of a sculpture in Juba, southern Sudan, built after the 1955 to 1972 war between north and south. The sculpture shows an Arab Muslim northerner shaking hands with a Christian African southerner and is a reminder of hope for reconciliation and peace in the current civil war.

Traditional Hmong designs such as the snail (protection), heart (good health) and elephant's foot (wealth) are crafted into saleable items such as potholders and aprons for sale in North America.

Filling water containers (Zimbabwe)

This is a photo of women from Inyati Community Co-op filling their water containers at the spigot while MCC worker William Stoesz from Steinbach, MB looks on. Stoesz worked with the community on behalf of the Zimbabwean Christian Care service agency which assisted on this water development project. The women now have water within walking distance of their homes.
