This is a photo of Bernhard Franz (1857-1945) and his wife, Anna Franz (Boldt), posing. Rev. Franz was minister of the Montau congregation after 1893. When the Soviet forces invaded the area, Franz lost his life and his wife was put in prison.
This is a photo of the first Mennonite church building (in 1590) in the Vistula-Nogat Delta in the city of Elbing. The present structure was built in 1900 and served the local congregation until 1945. Today it serves a Polish Catholic parish. The building has double wooden doors and a round window in the middle. The building was constructed with red brick.
