Forest Nursery sign

Sign reads: "British Columbia Forest Service: Forest Nursery." This is the sign to the Green Timbers Forestry Station, a tree nursery. Alternative Service workers reported here to the "manning depot" before being assigned to one of the forestry camps.

Robertson family

The Robertson family stands outside Hope Hall, a Plymouth Brethren church. Caption on back reads: "Ross Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson, their two younger children Elsie and ___ I forget the little boy's name." According to Burkholder, the family frequently hosted young men away from home due to the war, both conscientious objectors and military men.
