A view of the John Kennel home, built 1867. Written on back of photograph frame: "From Left to right, Greatgrandmother Barbara Risser Kennel, Greatgrandfather John Kennel, daughter Elizabeth Kennel, my dad Christian Bender (born 1888) and grandmother Annie Kennel Bender in front of Kennel homestead, 16th line of East Zorra, House built in 1867. Orie L. Bender."

Funeral photograph of Heinrich Harder

Heinrich Harder lies on an open funeral bier; his widow and children stand behind the bier. Front row (left to right): Katharina "Tina" Harder, Mary "Mariechen" Harder, Anna (Dueck) Harder, Margaretha "Greta" (Harder) Metz. Back row (left to right): Gerhard Harder, Isbrand Harder, Abram Harder, John Harder. Another son, Henry, was not present.

A note on the back of the photograph indicates the fate of the family members: Gerhard died in Siberia, near Tashkent; Isbrand "died in concentration camp, was taken in the Stalin purge of 1937"; Abram migrated to Canada in 1924; John and Anna both died in Kleefeld; Tina and Mariechen died in Russia; Greta married Edwart Metz, and "died in Russia 1960. Her husband died in concentration in Russia. He was taken away during Stalin purge 1937."

Tsar Nicholas II with staff and patients at a military hospital

Tsar Nicholas II (seated on chair at centre of photograph) is surrounded by patients, Red Cross workers and other staff at a hospital for wounded men in Ekaterinoslav, South Russia. Abraham Dick was present at the hospital that day, but was standing outside the room in the honour guard. Written on back: "Jekaterinaslav Hospital for wounded. Czar Nicholas 1917/18. Dad was standing guard outside door."
