This collection contains photos of the experiences of men who were conscientious objectors to war in Canada during the Second World War and were assigned to work in an Alternative Service program. The photos are organized into the following categories:
1-2 camp; 3-11 individuals; 12-25 groups; 26-32 camp life; 33-42 camp cooks; 43-50 vistors; 51-54 misc. Items 1 to 50 were taken in British Columbia.

This collection is about conscientious objectors and alternative service, including the men working at Camp Giekie, posing for photos at the camp, out on the job (tree planting, snag falling) eating, their living quarters etc. Also included is a photo of personnel at Camp Q7 (Loveland Lake, Campbell River, BC). Also some photos of a reunion in 1986.

Portrait of Mr. and Mrs. John Friesen. He was born Nov. 15, 1888 in Lichtfelde, Russia., the son of Martin Friesen and ? Enns. Mrs. Friesen, nee Maria Janzen b. 5 May 1893, Rosenort, Russia d. 24 June 1967. They were married 6 June 1915 . They moved to Niverville in 1924, other places in Manitoba and then 1926 back to Niverville . He was a farmer. Later they lived in Chilliwack and Clearbrook, B.C. They had a son John b. 1918 Mr. Friesen is wearing a dark suit, white shirt and a tie. Mrs. Friesen a dark dress with a large button type brooch on both sides of her bodice, and glasses

Wedding photo of a young couple, children of widow Maria (Funk) Hildebrand b. 1905. Probably they are daughter Helena and husband Bruno Peters (see F-76) or Maria and Arthur Rempel. The bride is wearing a white satin dress, a veil and head piece, and carrying a bouquet of roses and carnations. The groom is wearing a dark suit, white shirt , dark tie and a boutonniere with a long white ribbon. The couple are standing at the bottom of steps.
