This is a photo of Leonard N. Doerksen standing next to his widowed mother, Anna Doerksen (nee Anna Kehler), with his arm around her shoulder. See page 215 in Daughters in the House of Jacob. On December 28, 1959, Anna married widower John Enns.

Peardonville Road farm purchased by widowed Anna

This is a photo of the Peardonville Road farm purchased by widowed Anna Doerksen (nee Anna Kehler). Anna subdivided the Peardonville farm, selling off lots as required so her children could all attend Bible school. While the Doerksen's Clayburn farm was more fruitful and well-developed, her children understood that their mother wanted to live closer to Abbotsford so that they would be able to walk to Mennonite Educational Institute (MEI), to youth group, to church, and to the MB Bible school (MBBI). See page 217 in Daughters in the House of Jacob.

Len, the truck driver

This is a photo of Leonard N. Doerksen standing in front of a truck. He regularly drove truck on Saturdays and during summers to supplement his income as a minister and Bible school teacher. See page 107 in Daughters in the House of Jacob. The truck is a 1948-1953 GMC. (vehicle id by Peter Adsten)

This is a photo of Rev. Jacob J. Doerksen (left) baptizing people from the North Abbotsford Mennonite Brethren Church in a lake (?) near Abbotsford. Today the church is called Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church. See page 192 in Daughters in the House of Jacob.
