The David Agatha Fast fonds consists of records created, accumulated, and used records by David and Agatha Fast of Chortitz, East Reserve, Manitoba, between 1929 and 1996. The materials include immigration papers to come to Canada (1929), settlement documents, repayment of travel debt, farm account books (1931-1960), income tax papers (1943-1962), sermons, minister notebooks, notes from East Reserve Inter-Mennonite meetings and conferences, committee meeting minutes, Canadian passports, and wills. Also included in the record is a family bible that belonged to Johan Fast (b. 1860), and 2 copies of “We Must Adapt: The Schroeder-Fast letters 1930-1988" 1st and 2nd editions. Additionally, there are 4 optical disks of interviews with David and Agatha Fast as well as 3 handwritten dispensation charts (in map storage).

David attended Inter-Mennonite meetings and conferences in the East Reserve and collected programs, minutes, and invitations to interdenominational church conferences. Also among these documents are provincial government pamphlets on alcohol and correspondence with Manitoba Temperance Alliance. All of these records are in Volume 6478.5. United Ministers and Deacons minutes. – 1942-1966.

This fonds consists of correspondence (1915-1942), letters of Nickolas Wiens and others (1887), an account book from the family estate in Russia covering 1889-1917 (most likely created by George N. Rempel's father), miscellaneous documents and information realted to the Taschtschenak and Brosdsky etstaes owned by Martens and Schroeder. This includes a plan lay-out of the Martens estate. Some of the correspondence has been transcribed into Latin letters. The transcriptions have the identification number corresponding to the copy of the original in the upper right hand side.

This fonds contains correspondence, receipts, and other documents related to Johann's farming and business operation, and to his intermittent service in the municipal government. It also contains family correspondence and diaries containing personal notes by Johann and by his wife, Margaretha. Most of the material consists of handwritten originals.

Originals and photocopies of the originals are found in the fonds.

This fonds were includes a diary by Jacob Esau detailing the formation and challenges of the Alexanderkrone Zentralschule, and a hair wreath made to commemorate Esau's deceased family members. The materials are central to the understanding the early history of the Zentralschule. Portions of the diary were transcribed by Katharina Janzen and published in the newspaper Der Bote in October and November 1971. This together with the reports written by Esau in the periodical Friedensstimme were central to Ted Regehr's book For Everything a Season: A history of the Alexanderkrone Zentralschule. The hair wreath is a unique item that must be rare in Mennonite circles.

This fonds consists of photographs of the Tokmak railroad, the Wall estates, and the extended Wall family. Maps showing the railroad including a Russian map of the Crimea and southern Ukraine and a memoir by George Wall recounting the family's experiences in Russia and early life in Canada. A Gesangbuch (hymnal( once owned by Peter Wall is also included.

This fonds uniquely highlights the life and times of a wealthy Mennonite family involved in the transportation and farming industries and how that changed with the Russian Revolution forcing the family to emigrate.
