This fonds consists of diaries written by David Janzen after having lived in Canada for over 20 years. Janzen writes about daily activities in the family and on the farm. The diaries start in 1947 and continue until 1966, four years before his death. At the back of some of the journals are addresses of friends and relatives and newspaper clippings of interest to Janzen at the time (i.e health matters, how to deal with insects, etc.)

This fonds consists of diaries and other materials which provide details on everyday life, current events and business dealings. Tucked into some of the diaries are advertisements, notices, lottery tickets and other day-to-day notes. The diaries for 1907 and 1918 are missing. The diary for 1919 is incomplete and obviously written under difficult conditions on different notepads and scraps of paper. There is also a small notebook with calculations written in pencil.

There are financial records related to the support for the local school and for fire insurance levies. There is also some prose written by William Friesen. The materials give a sense of the economic conditions and show some of the activities the Mennonite ministers in the Rosenheim area of Manitoba at that time.
