This is a photo of (left to right): Voltaic showing his artificial leg and Carl Schmidt holding a crutch. After being fitted with the peg leg the young man was so pleased he wanted to go home right away. He stayed overnight to see if it was fit properly and then walked the six kilometers to his home to prove that the new leg was working fine.

Edmund Janzen and other volunteers drying peaches

This is a photo of Edmund Janzen, centre, and other volunteers cutting peaches and removing the pits to prepare them for drying. The MCC peach drying project, located at Ted Friesen's and Justina Friesen's farm near Reedley, Calif. processes nearly 10,000 pounds of dried peaches annually. The peaches are sold at relief sales and SELFHELP shops and the profits go to support MCC programs.

Crumbling homes in Chad after war

This is a photo the crumbling mudblock walls of homes in Chad. During the 1982 war in Chad, looters took roofs, windows and doors, leaving the walls vulnerable to the rains. An interchurch committee, with help from international donors including MCC, helped families rebuild.
