Tsar Nicholas II with staff and patients at a military hospital

Tsar Nicholas II (seated on chair at centre of photograph) is surrounded by patients, Red Cross workers and other staff at a hospital for wounded men in Ekaterinoslav, South Russia. Abraham Dick was present at the hospital that day, but was standing outside the room in the honour guard. Written on back: "Jekaterinaslav Hospital for wounded. Czar Nicholas 1917/18. Dad was standing guard outside door."

Neighbours plowing field at Dick farm

Neighbours of Agatha and Abraham Dick use tractors to plow the Dick fields in fall 1938. Abraham was recuperating from a broken back and unable to work. The neighbours surprised the family by showing up in early November 1938 for a "plowing bee."

From right to left are the gravestones of: Annie (Kennel) Bender, Barbara (Stalter) Kennel, Joseph Kennel, John Kennel, Barbara (Risser) Kennel, Elias Bender (1884-1888), Jonathan Bender (1886-1888), Christian Bender (1860-1887), Joseph Kennel (1853-1880). More information is written on the back of the photograph, including the notation that Elias and Jonathan share a common grave.
