Gerhard Schroeder, 1848 and Margaretha Penner, 1840 descendants

Five generations of Gerhard and Margaretha (Penner) Schroeder family. Gerhard's father was Johann Schroeder b. 1807. He lived in the old Colony in Russia and later in the Bergthaler Colony. Johann was married 3 times; 1. Justina Schellenberg, 2. Maria Schellenberg,, 3. Maria Dyck. Gerhard 's mother was Maria Schellenberg. Gerhard married in 1867 to Anna Harder. His second marriage was to Margaretha Penner. Gerhard Schoreder was a Municipal Reeve. He lived in Eigenhof (Chortitz) East Reserve.

Cornelius P. Toews, 1836 and Anna Bartel, 1838 descendants

Five generations of Cornelius P. and Anna (Bartel) Toews family Cornelius was the son of Johann Toews and Maria Plett. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Friesen,, 2nd marriage to Anna (Friesen) Bartel. Corenlius was one of the more influencial figures in the great migration of the Mennonites from Russia . He was born in Fischau, Russia and was delegated by the Kleingemeinde Church to investigate Canada as a prospective home for his family and fellow Mennonites in 1873.

Four generations of Dietrich and Maria (Hiebert) Toews family. Dietrich was born 4 Feb 1872. Maria was born 19 Jul 1874, on the voyage across the Atlantic. She was the daughter of Peter Hiebert and Lena Wieler. Dietrich's father was Peter Toews b. 3 Dec 1939. His first wife was Agata Kehler b. 18 Aug 1848. His second wife was Sara Friesen, Widow Jakob Funk.

John R. Toews, 1881 and Anna Reimer, 1887 descendants

Four generations of John R. and Anna (Reimer) Toews family. John was the son of Peter Toews 1839 from Kleefeld, Russia and Elizabeth Reimer. Anna was the daughter of K. W. Reimer and Maria Brandt. John R. was in the lumber business and also farmed. In later years he was the administrator of the Home for the Aged in Steinbach.

Four generations of John F. and Maria (Reimer) Unger family. John F. Unger was the son of Peter H. Unger and Justina Friesen. His wife Maria P.Reimer was the daughter of Peter R.. Reimer and Maria Plett. John and Maria farmed in Blumenort, East Reserve. Their son John R. Unger was the well-known barber and jeweller in Steinbach.

Four generations of Cornelius and Mary (Braun) Warkentin Family. Cornelius immigrated to Canada and married Mary Braun. They had 9 children. Cornelius was only 35 years old when he died. Mrs. Warketin later married Frank Loewen. Her third husband was Peter Buhr.

Jacob and Helena Warkentin descendants

Five generations of Jacob and Helena Warkentin family. They lived in Niederchortitza, Russia. Their son Johann b. 1859 came to Canada in 1879. He was deeply interested in education and in the church. In 1895 he was ordained into the ministry in the M.B. Church in Winkler.

Five generations of the Jacob Wiebe family. Jacob came from the Old Colony in Russia and settled in the Barkfield area. He was a teacher as well as a farmer. Their daughter Susanna married Jacob W. Reimer, a storekeeper in Steinbach.

Langside School District #230 (Rm of Franklin, Manitoba)

The Langside School District #230 in the RM of Franklin, Manitoba was established in April 1884 and a one room schoolhouse opened. The original structure was replaced in 1905 by a second school building. The school was closed in 1958 and the building was used as a granary for some time. The Langside School was located 1.5 km north of Roseau River and about 4 km northwest of the Martin Kornelius Penner homestead.
