Mozambique

This is a photo of a Mozambican family, victims of war and drought, and their positions. They are living under trees because they are too exhausted to build basic shelters. MCC food aid was given to this family. The allotted ration was one half of the World Health Organization recommended refugee ration.

This is a photo of (left to right): Voltaic showing his artificial leg and Carl Schmidt holding a crutch. After being fitted with the peg leg the young man was so pleased he wanted to go home right away. He stayed overnight to see if it was fit properly and then walked the six kilometers to his home to prove that the new leg was working fine.
