MCC Slide Presentation-The Village of My An 1883-1981
This slide show consisting of 156 black and white and color slides depicts 100 years of history of Vietnam through the village of My An. It comes in two parts. Part one has 76 slides and part 2 has 80 slides. Depicted is farming practices (planting, harvesting, irrigation), occupied by the French and French rule enforced. Common uprising lead by Ho Chi Minh in 1945 which lead to 2 national governments (divided geographically) one with socialist leaning ideals. The Americans became involved and fearful of the socialist ideals and thus began the Vietnam war. The photos show the people in the various time frames, their situation, their resistance and the military hardware and personal used against them. Included is a script but the audio cassette is missing. Produced by Centre for South and Southeast Asian Studies, University of Michigan.

This series contains records created by MCC Canada’s Low German Programs, dating from 1982 to 2006. The records within the series consist of program and project records including meeting minutes, activity and administrative reports, publications, and research material. This series also includes records relating to programming in Mexico, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina, and Canadian provinces, Die Mennonitische Post records, and records of the Kanadier Mennonite Colonization Committee.

"Kampuchea: We want to be your Friends" slide presentation Collection
This slide show consists of 80 color, sepia tone,and black and white slides. The slides depict life in Cambodia -- its people, culture and the events of the decade of the 1970s and early 1980s, the after effects of the Vietnam war which spilled over into Cambodia (1970-1975), the rule of terror under Pol Pot that followed (1975-1979), the plight of over 800,000 refugees by 1980, and the re-building efforts that followed. There are scenes of farming, commerce, rural and city landscapes, poverty, war, cruelty, destruction, military actions, prisoners and refugees. The presentation ends with slides showing Mennonite Central Committee's involvement in the country -- through sending material aid (laundry soap for hospitals, canned beef distributed through the Red Cross, and school kits for children). Included with these slides is a script and an audio cassette (see cassette #2315).

MCC Slide Presentation-The Gentle People : A Look Inside Laos
This slide show consists of 140 color slides showing the people, landscape and condition of the country of Laos. The slide show details the differences in 3 main cultural groups and also talks about religion, customs, education, and farming practices. Due to the Vietnam war the country was disrupted. It was not until 1980 that the country produced enough food to feed its own people as it had done before the war. The country is rich in resources but the people need the keys to use the resource. Education is one way this is being done. Produced by the Southeast Asia Resource Centre. Photos, Script and narration by Jacui Chagnon and Roger Rumpf.
