Jacob and Helena Warkentin descendants

Five generations of Jacob and Helena Warkentin family. They lived in Niederchortitza, Russia. Their son Johann b. 1859 came to Canada in 1879. He was deeply interested in education and in the church. In 1895 he was ordained into the ministry in the M.B. Church in Winkler.

Quitten Bücher = Receipts for monies disbursed by the Waisenamt

This sub series consists of four kinds of records. Firstly, (volume 6318) Waisenamt receipt books filed in chronological order and one file with 4 Passbooks for the Chortitz branch of the Banque D’Hochelaga, dated 1917-1930. File 5 in volume 6318 consists of loose receipts contained in an envelope addressed to Vorsteher H G Klippenstein. Secondly, (volume 6319) Waisenamt receipt books in chronological order, beginning in one envelope containing carbon copies of loose receipts and money orders dated 1919-1922, in no particular order, and then a series of receipt books in 4 sets as given below. Each receipt is signed by the recipient and acknowledges the receipt of a given amount from the Waisenamt Vorsteher. The specifics of the money transaction are given on a separate line. Note that the corresponding ledger entries for these receipts are found in sub series 5 –Income and Disbursements. Thirdly, (volume 6320) cancelled cheques and cheque stubs in chronological order (beginning in 1926) for cheques issued by the Waisenamt on its account at the Banque d’Hochelaga, the Royal Bank and various other banks. These cheque stubs correspond to the Quittungen (signed receipts) found in the receipt book mentioned above. The box also contains several envelopes with receipts of various kinds including money order stubs. Fourthly, (volume 6321) receipt books (payment against debt) and promissory notes. This series has not been digitized.

Five generations of Gerhard Martens family. Gerhard was the 2nd oldest son of Jakob Martens b. 1795 and Helena Dyck b. 1811 He was born 18 Oct 1829. His first wife was Anna Friesen b. 17 Aug 1835 d.20 Jan 1866.His second wife was Katharina Klassen b. 23 Jul 1842. He lived in the Bergtaler Colony in Russia and came to Canada with Katharina and 4 children at the age of 46 years. (1875?).

Gen 2: Helen Martens b. 24 Aug. 1872, d. 29 May 1940 with her second husband Henry Dueck b. 1 Feb 1851, d. 7 June 1929, , son of Dietrich Dueck and Anna Unrau. Her first husband was ? Schulz.. Henry's first wife was Agatha Enns from Bergthal Colony. Henry and Helen are sitting together on chairs.

Gen 3: Sara Dueck, b. 13 Mar. 1904, with husband Dietrich J. Neudorf in Altona, 1970. They are standing in a fruit garden. She is wearing a white hat. Diedrich was the son of Jacob Neudorf born 23 Aug 1854 who came to Canada in 1925. Dietrich J. Neudorf was born 10 Jul 1901 in Osterwick, Russia.
